Roni Lakin is interested in interaction between U.S.-American and Latin American authors in the early to mid-twentieth century, a period when national centennials and technological innovations sparked conversations on the Americas as a space of futurity. He plans to incorporate translation theory and publication and circulation histories into his analysis of literary exchange between the Americas. Roni is also interested in the role of speculative and science fiction during this period in approaching topics like colonialism, national identity, and national futures. His current translation project centers on the short stories of Argentine writer Silvina Ocampo.
